Olexiy, a university lecturer, was hesitant about whether he would have enough energy for our course on the basics of AI. We share how a conversation with the project coordinator changed his approach to lectures and why a live trainer proved to be better than dry theory on online platforms.

When Olexiy, a university lecturer, saw an announcement for the “AI Basics” course flash through his feed, his first thought was: “Interesting, but definitely not now.” The teaching routine is an endless cycle of preparing for lectures, checking assignments, and methodical paperwork. Where in this schedule is there room to master algorithms?

Olexiy saw the announcement in an LGBT community group. Despite his internal interest, he planned to put it off “for later,” when he would have at least a few hours free. The situation was changed by a single dialogue with Maksym, the coordinator from ALLYANCE.GLOBAL. It was this live communication that became the impulse that no targeted advertising could provide.

“I initially thought about joining later, when I had more free time. But after talking to Maksym, I changed my mind — and now I don’t regret it at all,” Olexiy admits.

The biggest surprise for him was the difference between self-education on large platforms and live training. While online courses often suffer from monotonous theory, practical sessions with a trainer from the Alliance provided what was missing – real-life cases that he could immediately “try out” in his lectures.

💡 AI Cheat Sheet for Educators: Where to start?

Olexiy emphasises the importance of structure. Here are 3 steps for a lecturer to unburden their schedule today:

  • Creating a lesson plan: Instead of a blank sheet, ask the AI to develop 5 options for the structure of a lecture on your topic. Choose the best one and refine it.
  • Adapting to the audience: Prompt the AI: «Explain the concept [topic name] using the example of [popular series or game] so that it is understandable to first-year students».
  • Generating quizzes: Copy a part of your lecture notes into Gemini and give the prompt: «Formulate 5 multiple-choice questions based on this text for a quick knowledge check».

Today, AI is a good way for Olexiy to finally “lighten the load.” He uses neural networks as a foundation for developing new parts of his courses, no longer spending hours structuring the base, but focusing on the main thing – working with students. If you also feel that routine is taking up a lot of your energy, try starting small.
