NGO "ALLIANCE.GLOBAL," with the support of UNAIDS and Expertise France, is proud to announce the relocation of the Kyiv shelter to a new cozy place in the very center of the capital.

This step is an important milestone in our mission to provide a safe and comfortable space for members of the LGBTIQ+ community who find themselves in difficult life circumstances due to war or discrimination.

The new shelter is a spacious apartment designed to comfortably accommodate up to 15 people at a time. It consists of three large living rooms, two modern bathrooms, and two recreation areas. We plan to continue improving the space, including installing a projector for organizing leisure activities for our guests and taking into account all their other needs that we can meet.

“Our team has made every effort to make the new shelter a real home for those who need it,” says Vladyslav, the communications representative of the National LGBTI Consortium. “We have taken care of everything necessary for a comfortable stay, from cozy beds to cozy places to relax. Our goal is for everyone who crosses the threshold of the shelter to feel safe and surrounded by care.”

Vladyslav notes that despite its name, the shelter serves another important function.

“The key point of the shelter’s existence, not only in Kyiv, is to provide LGBTIQ+ people with the opportunity to get back on their feet. To work through traumatic experiences with a psychologist, find a job, and eventually move into their own housing. And for this, everything is here, and even more. What’s missing, we’ll find!”

Shelter guests have the opportunity to stay here free of charge for three months, with the possibility of extending the term according to individual needs. The shelter’s services are designed for gays, bisexuals, and other men who have sex with men, transgender and non-binary people, as well as other members of LGBTIQ+ communities and their family members.

“Our goal is to provide temporary shelter and comprehensive support to a person during a difficult period of life,” emphasizes Vladyslav. “We understand that each story is unique, and we try to find an individual approach. Thanks to the large community of caring friends, we can create small miracles every day.”

It is important to note that fair rules of residence apply to everyone in the shelter. You can get acquainted with them in detail upon check-in. In summary, they all relate to the safety of the place and its residents and are based on the principles of mutual respect. Serious violations of these rules lead to eviction, although this happens very rarely.
